MAGNIFICENT TURKEY
11 NIGHTS / 13 DAYS
Day 1: Canada - Istanbul (Turkey)
Departure flight to Istanbul.
Day 2: Istanbul
Arrival at the airport in Istanbul. You will be greeted by our local representatives after exiting the customs and transferred to your hotel in Istanbul. There, you will get a quick briefing from the tour guide about the itinerary. Rest of the day free to start your exploration of this legendary city. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 3: Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, you will start with a half-day guided city tour of Istanbul including the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the sportive and social center of the Byzantine Empire, and the Blue Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Istanbul built in the 17th century and famous for its blue tiles and 6 minarets. Afterwards, you will visit a true architectural wonder, Hagia Sophia. This architectural masterpiece has stood for nearly 1,500 years, witnessing the rise and fall of empires. Once a Byzantine cathedral, later an Ottoman mosque, and now a great symbol of Istanbul’s rich history. Take a good look at its grand dome, intricate mosaics, and centuries-old Islamic calligraphy.
You will also visit the Spice Market, known in Turkish as Misir Carsisi (Egyptian Bazaar), where you will discover different spices, their flavors and healing qualities. Located in Eminonu, Istanbul's oldest district, right next to the Flower Bazaar, the market was built by Hatice Turhan Sultan in 1660. Bedazzle your senses with the tempting variety of interesting spices, such as saffron, nigella seeds, chili, cumin, curry, all used for savory cooking as well as medicines. Rest of the day free. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast-Dinner)
Day 4: Istanbul - Gallipoli - Canakkale
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure southward to Canakkale. Following breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to the site of the Ancient Greek city of Troy located southeast of the Dardanelles strait, close to Mount Ida. Both factual and legendary, Troy is famous for being the focus of the Trojan War, one of the most important events in Greek mythology and the scene of the legendary Fall of Troy, described in the Homer's Iliad and made famous by its wooden horse. You will visit the archaeological site of the city founded around 3500 BC, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see a reconstruction of the fabled wooden horse.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will drive to Izmir. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Izmir. (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)
Day 6: Izmir
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a full day at leisure to discover Izmir, Turkey's third largest city located on the shore of the Aegean Sea. Stop at a local restaurant nearby to taste a typical Turkish coffee before discovering the authentic Kizlaragasi Han Bazaar, a rare sample of Ottoman architecture. Dinner and overnight in Izmir. Optional full-day tour ($) of the Ancient Greco-Roman city of Ephesus and the House of Virgin Mary (approx. $85 USD / person, to be paid to your guide at destination)
Day 7: Izmir - Hierapolis-Pamukkale - Antalya
After breakfast, departure toward the wonderful site of Hierapolis-Pamukkale. Located near the city of Denizli, Pamukkale (meaning "Cotton Castle" in Turkish) is a unique and spectacular natural site, with its fairy-like, dazzling white cascade. Pamukkale's terraces are made of travertine, which is a sedimentary rock deposited by water from hot springs. The thermal water has been used since the Roman time for its therapeutic powers.
On top of the "castle" is the Greco-Roman spa city of Heriapolis, built in the 2nd century BC. You will visit Apollo's temple, which was competing with the one in Delphi at the time, the monumental Nymphaeum dedicated to the nymphs, the goddesses of water, and the Roman theatre. You will also see the well-preserved, extensive necropolis. Continuation to Antalya. Dinner and overnight in Antalya. (Breakfast-Dinner)
Day 8: Antalya
Breakfast at the hotel. Full day at leisure to explore Antalya, the heart of the Turkish Riviera. Discover the authentic and historic charm of Antalya as you stroll through the Kaleici district. Around the corner of a cobbled alley, you will see Hadrian's Gate, a magnificent example of Roman architecture dating back 130 AD, as well as the Old Clock Tower. Aran, our guide, was outstanding. He is so knowledgable and was able to pivot on a dime. He worked tirelessly to ensure we were all informed and accommodated for on all fronts. I am amazed at the value of the experience; we travel extensively on our own but this allowed for us to experience so much more without any driving or organizational effort. We really enjoyed the trip and will use Wingbuddy again. I would also note that the bus driver Yousef was excellent and very cautious and efficient. I would like the lunches included if local experiences were possible (the one included was amazing, really enjoyed it). Thank you to everyone.

Our guide Atilla was amazing and went out of his way to keep us informed, answer out questions and accommodate all of our individual requirements. He had an amazing grasp of Turkish history and made the places come alive as we visited.
The hotels were very comfortable and well located for the price point. The food was plentiful and with enough variety that you didn’t become too bored. The optional tours were very interesting and well worth doing. But importantly they allowed people to opt out if the needed a break. The bus was comfortable and driver very good. The driving days did not feel too long. The flights were good and went off without a hitch. We appreciated the additional day before the tour as we got in so late.
In all I thought our Turkey trip was very good value and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. I will definitely be looking to do more wing buddy trips in the future.
I would especially like to commend Atilla for arranging dental work for my friend and for actually taking her to her appointment and serving as translator during the procedures. And also phoning a hotel and having them look for the wedding ring she left behind. And arranging to have it send home to her. Above and beyond.
I’m looking forward to doing more wing buddy trips in the future. Have you considered doing a Silk Road tour thru Uzbekistan etc? I’m very interested in that area.
One tiny thing was that your telephone agent gave us wrong information about check in at YVR. She said because it was an AA flight on code share with British Airways that we checked in and left out luggage at AA when that was not the case. We needed to go to British airways desk to check in. Her info did not make sense to be so ended up going to the correct one anyway. But in future that advice may confuse others.
Overall a very positive experience that I am hoping to repeat before too long

We had an outstanding tour guide (Sarah) on the English-speaking bus, and the tour guide on the French-speaking bus went out of his way to help my wife through a medical emergency. I would strongly recommend this tour for the total programme and their leadership.

Thank you for this wonderful trip.

My tour guide Atilla and driver were very good at their jobs. We were comfortable and well informed. Some hotels were far better than others, they were all clean however some were a bit outdated in their furnishings. All in all we had a super fantastic time in Turkey. Would have loved to visit the Topkapi harem and Suleyman Mosque as part of the tour.

Our guide, Atilla was very knowledgeable and very experienced. Some information he provided about Turkey was a bit dry in delivery, so a bit more humour might be a good idea on his part, but overall I was very happy with all that I learned about Turkey and had the chance to experience. It was a very well organized tour. Bekir was an excellent driver, who was very friendly and very helpful. Jaylin, who was the translator for the couple from Quebec, was a treat to have on the tour.
The food in Turkey is marvellous. The hotels in Istanbul and Izmir were good hotels, but in very noisy locations, which made it hard to get a good nights sleep. Also the first flight of my return with Pegasus airlines left a lot to be desired. I feel very fortunate to have made my connection in Amsterdam, I really only had seconds to spare. Flying the rest of the time with KLM was awesome. My only regret is that it was too windy on the days we were in Cappadocia to take the balloon ride and that's not anybody's fault. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone. It really was a fantastic experience.

The guide we had was the very best for knowledge and kindness. The driver we had went above and beyond to help me. The translator that was supplied for the quebecois was very helpful even for the English speaking people on the tour. It was the best holiday of my life. There was only one thing that was beyond everyone's control and that was the wind stopped us from going on the balloon ride. Will have to find a way to do that another time. Thank you for the very best your that you supplied.

Our local guide in Turkey, Ersim (sorry if I spelled his name incorrectly!) was EXCELLENT. I am very picky with my food and to be succinct, he went beyond the call of duty to make sure I was ok at every meal. So grateful to have a guide who actually cared if I ate or not, I've gone on many tours and will say not every tour would go that extra mile :)
Great trip with an amazing small group of wonderful people. Hotels were good, meals were ok but considering the price paid, lol it was acceptable. The only complaint I have was with Egyptair - they changed the last leg of my flight home to Toronto without informing me until I arrived at my stopover at Cairo. Fortunately Egyptair owed to their mistake and compensated us with meal vouchers and a hotel stay. So lol all good.... except I'd be leery to fly Egyptair ever again!
Thank you for a great trip Wingbuddy overall :)

As this was our 1st tour ever with a guide, contrary to my beliefs from the past, we were pleasantly surprised by many things: the small group (only 4 cpls +guide+driver), guide's (Serap) knowledge, sincerity, willingness to go extra mile (wife & I are vegetarians & Serap made sure that other than buffets, she arranged with the kitchens to have them prepare veggie meals), sociable, and an excellent sense of humor. The driver (Bekir) was also very helpful, prompt, sociable and overall very sincere. (To the point that we all exchanged our whatsapp# to stay in touch and we admired them both for their qualities). We would definitely look forward to taking tours with Wingbuddy & recommend to others. Thank you for a memorable tour. ....Jatin & Daksha Jadav.

The tour was excellent and part of it was the fact our group was only four persons. The tour guide and driver were amazing, very professional, very knowledgeable, and extremely pleasant. The whole tour was very casual and interactions with our guide were more conversational and very interactive. We were very impressed with Wingbuddy and how they allowed us to customize our trip and even make changes after we departed. We will definitely do this again.
